At least, that is what the two-pound Yorkshire Terrier has always believed.
When Hooman Mommy Susie and Hooman Daddy Cody load Abby Gail, Harley D., Lilly Lou, and their enormous white protector, Sneakers, into the pickup, something seems different. There are no suitcases. No fishing gear. No camping supplies. Even the dogs’ toothbrushes have been left at home.
Nobody tells them where they are going. Then the pickup stops at the veterinary hospital. Suddenly, Abby has questions.
Inside, the Yorkieteers encounter strange smells, unfamiliar animals, friendly veterinary staff, and Dr. Talon Marshall, a perfectly nice Hooman who unfortunately speaks a confusing language Abby quickly names Medical HOOMAN.
One by one, the dogs take their turns. There are examinations.
There is medicine. There is YUCK.

Harley D. intends to face everything with the dignity expected of a six-pound male Yorkie. His extremely masculine howl suggests the needle may have had other plans.
Surely Sneakers will do better. After all, he weighs approximately 170 pounds. He is the family protector. He is calm, powerful, and brave. Then Sneakers sees the needle. Apparently, the biggest dog can also be the biggest howler!
Before long, things become fuzzy. The dogs get sleepy, their eyes close, and part of the day simply disappears.
When they wake up, Abby discovers a mystery.
Their teeth are clean. Their toenails are short.
Nobody remembers either thing happening.
Most suspicious of all, their toothbrushes are still at home.
Abby Gail begins investigating. The clues do not make sense, but she is determined to find an explanation.
Eventually, the tiny Yorkie reaches the only conclusion that seems possible.
